Sometimes you have the option of planning in advance when you know everyone is going to be together at one time, such as a family reunion or party. Other times it is spur of the moment that the planets are aligned and everyone is together in one place. Here are some FAQS.....
- How long does the session last? We generally schedule an hour for your family session However if you have a rather larger group and want several breakdowns of the family groups we will schedule up to two hours.
- What should we wear? The first thing we ask is what is the end goal, do you want a wall portrait to display in a certain room?Is that room formal or casual? Or a collage of different poses and break downs? Pick an accent color from that rooms decor so that your portrait will blend in nicely. We always tell families to try and get a theme together either using one color and using varying hues (but not to many). We do ask that you stay away from patterns and bold stripes as they take away from the face. With outdoor photography it is best to stick with solids as there is so much going on in the background.
- What are the best colors to wear? If your planning for a spring portrait the pastels look good in the out door. Summer use brighter colors, blues purples, tans, burgundy, teals. Fall- Use more earthy tones, chocolates, black, navy, dark burgundy, grays. Whites make you look larger than you are and the darker tones are more slimming.
- Can we bring our dog? Of course! Just make sure you bring a leash
- We really want an out door setting for our portrait. That is no problem at Janssen Photography. Our studio is equipped with over 2 acres of beautifully landscaped areas with large mature trees, that we can photograph up to 40 people. We have private dressing rooms if you need an outfit change or a quick touch up! And the most importantly we have restrooms and a coffee bar!
- What about bad weather? Well we are blessed to be living in Colorado where we have more sunshine than rain but if it does happen to rain on your portrait day you have the option of rescheduling or we have an indoor area that can handle up to 40 people, so if it's one of those once and a lifetime portraits we can get that done for you.
- How do we view our images? Your proofing images will be ready in about a week and we schedule a time for you to come to our studio where we have a triple size big screen that we can go through all of your images to pick out the best ones for your finished portrait. We also have the technology to show your portrait on your wall and what frames will go with your decor. Some of our customers are from out of town and we offer on line viewing. We send you home with all of the information of our popular portrait sizes finishes and collages. We are always willing to help you with any situation.
- What about on-Location? This does require a bit more planning but we are happy to meet you at a favorite location. Just make sure you call ahead of time so we can schedule accordingly. If it is an area that we are not familiar with we will need to scout it out for the best lighting times and accessibility.
